It did. It was actually very civil. Though, I think the CEO and CTO were in as much a state of shock as I was 2 months ago.

I'm open to other names. That's part of the reason I didn't put "knock up party" as the post's title. It's hard to think of a word though. Married:Bachelor::Parent:____, "childless", "kidless"....none are really that catchy.

Great idea, but it needs a better name. Knock up party sounds like a swinger event.

Did you read Wired's article about <a href="http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/05/datagov-launches-to-mixed-reviews/" rel="nofollow">Data.gov</a>?

I think governments are moving in the right direction. You may have a point about the expense reports, but there is a lot more interesting and politically safe data that is in everyone's best interest to free. Think of crime stats, property values, building permits, tax revenues, traffic volumes, etc. You could do some interesting analysis with that data in an open format.

That is a good reason. I understand Ruby is a bit more java like, at least in the everything is a class kind of a way.

I have read claims that Ruby and Rails though is enough of a Domain Specific language on top of Ruby, that is makes it hard to know what is Ruby and what is Rail. I am curious to hear if that is the case or not.

It's the new-hotness, and some developers here have been looking for an excuse to stick it in our java webapp. My spider sense tells me there will be day-job benefits to knowing it.
